This role focuses on advanced fiber troubleshooting, break-fix remediation, testing, and quality assurance across active production infrastructure.The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in inside plant (ISP) fiber systems , strong OTDR expertise, and a disciplined approach to working in high-availability environments where precision and adherence to process are essential. This is a senior-level technical role requiring the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex fiber issues while maintaining service integrity in live networks.This position operates in a fast-paced, 24/7 mission-critical setting supporting structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure across enterprise data center systems.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform advanced fiber optic troubleshooting, break-fix, and maintenance in live data center environmentsWork safely around active production circuits following strict MOPs, SOPs, and change control proceduresExecute and interpret fiber test results including:OTDR testing and trace analysisOptical power meter and light source testingFiber inspection and connector validationPerform fiber cleaning, inspection, and re-inspection prior to mating or remediationDiagnose and resolve physical layer issues including:Signal loss and attenuationDirty or damaged connectorsPatch panel, jumper, and cross-connect issuesDocumentation and labeling discrepanciesPerform QA/QC validation on fiber installations, routing, labeling, and test documentationReview and interpret technical documentation such as:OTDR traces and test reportsAs-built drawings and rack elevationsPatch schedules and fiber route documentationIdentify, document, and escalate complex technical issues with clear root cause analysisSupport preventive and corrective maintenance activities across structured fiber infrastructureProvide guidance to junior technicians on best practices for testing, cleaning, and troubleshootingEnsure compliance with all data center safety and operational standardsRequired Skills & Education6–7+ years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenanceStrong background in data centers, carrier facilities, NOCs, central offices, or mission-critical environmentsProven experience performing break-fix work in live production environmentsExpert-level knowledge of inside plant fiber systems , including:Trunks, jumpers, patch panels, cassettes, and cross-connectsStrong proficiency with fiber test equipment:OTDROptical power meter and light sourceFiber inspection scopeVFL (as applicable)Strong QA/QC mindset with high attention to detail and documentation accuracyAbility to perform methodical OTDR analysis and fiber fault isolationComfortable working full-time onsite in a high-density data center environmentPreferred QualificationsBICSI TECH Certification or equivalent structured cabling credentialFOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician)OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationManufacturer-specific fiber certification (CommScope, Corning, etc.)First Aid / CPR certification or site-specific safety trainingExperience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data center environmentsTechnical CompetenciesAdvanced fiber optic troubleshooting and diagnosticsOTDR analysis and interpretationOptical loss budgeting and power testingFiber inspection, cleaning, and remediationRoot cause analysis in live network environmentsStructured cabling QA/QC auditingDocumentation validation and correctionOutage prevention in high-availability systemsPreventive and corrective maintenance executionPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to work full-time onsite in an active data center environmentComfortable working around energized equipment, dense cabling systems, and elevated rack structuresAbility to stand for extended periods and handle fiber testing tools and cabling materialsMust follow strict safety, security, and operational protocols at all timesSchedule10-hour shifts, 5 days per week (50 hours/week)Day shift primarily, with occasional night or schedule adjustments as neededCompany Description About Seneca Resources:Seneca Resources is client driven provider of strategic Information Technology consulting services and Workforce Solutions to government and industry.
