Duration: Long Term Contract
Location: Abilene, TX - Onsite
Pay Range - $25 to $27/hr on W2 (Mileage & all other expenses are already included in this Pay)


Must have own vehicle and Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Job Description:
We are seeking experienced Fiber Splicers to join our team for long-term projects in the Abilene, TX area. The ideal candidates will have a proven background in fiber optic splicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-capacity fiber networks. This role requires hands-on expertise with fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and industry-standard practices, along with a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
  • Work with ribbon fiber and perform high-volume splicing.
  • Handle, dress, and install large fiber count cables into cabinets, MDFs, and other locations.
  • Interpret splicing plans, OTDR traces, and fiber characterization data.
  • Apply knowledge of link loss principles to ensure proper connectivity.
  • Locate, troubleshoot, and repair fiber cable faults while minimizing service disruptions.
  • Operate and maintain fusion splicing equipment from leading OEMs (Fujikura, Fitel, Corning).
  • Maintain accurate splicing files and documentation using software systems.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and ensure compliance with safe work practices.

Job Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Minimum 5 years of fiber optic splicing experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications or higher education preferred.
  • Proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters.
  • Relevant FO certifications (fusion splice, OTDR, connectors, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and travel as needed.
  • Certifications preferred: OSHA 10, CPR.
  • Proven record of high-quality work and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to long-term projects and consistent performance.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable with standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing ladders or utility structures.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, aerial environments, and outdoor conditions across all weather.
  • Fine motor skills for handling small components and splicing tools.
  • Adequate visual acuity for reading fiber labels, color codes, diagrams, and OTDR traces.
  • Capability to sit or kneel for extended periods while performing precision tasks.
  • Ability to drive long distances or travel to remote job sites.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, boots, harnesses) for extended durations.
  • Physical stamina to work extended hours, on-call shifts, nights, and weekends as required.
