About the Role

As the key player in our real estate team, you will lead high-impact real estate transactions, oversee a diverse property portfolio, and drive strategic land investment decisions. In addition to structuring transactions, conducting market analysis, and managing property negotiations to support corporate objectives and long-term planning, you will provide leadership and mentorship to a high-performing team, fostering growth and expertise within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead Real Estate Transactions – Negotiate and manage acquisitions, dispositions, leases, and licenses.
  2. Oversee a Diverse Portfolio – Manage development lands, civic properties, and commercial real estate assets.
  3. Strategic Planning – Develop and implement long-term land investment strategies.
  4. Build Industry Relationships – Maintain strong connections within the real estate community.
  5. Provide Expert Advice – Support internal departments, Council, and senior management with real estate advice.
  6. Ensure Effective Property Management – Oversee rental agreements and contracts related to City-owned and privately owned properties.

Qualifications

  1. A strategic mindset with a proven track record in real estate development, portfolio management, and team leadership.
  2. Strong negotiation skills and expertise in commercial and municipal real estate transactions.
  3. In-depth knowledge of property valuation, investment analysis, and market trends.
  4. A Bachelor's degree in Urban Land Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, plus at least 10 years of experience in real estate management.
  5. Membership in a professional real estate organization such as the Appraisal Institute of Canada or the Real Estate Institute of BC.
  6. A valid BC Driver's License.
  7. Experience in commercial real estate is preferred.
